chimney liner or flue liner is designed to contain combustion
products and direct them to the outside atmosphere - protecting
the chimney walls from heat and corrosion. A savvy homeowner
needs to know the condition of their flue lining, or for
that matter whether or not their chimney even has one. Even
though liners have been mandatory for decades, many earlier
homes were built without liners - a dangerous condition
which should be rectified.
stainless steel liners are designed for both standalone
new installations (woodstoves for instance) or as retrofits
and upgrades to existing chimneys where the original lining
is either damaged or improperly sized, or for those originally
constructed without the benefit of any type of lining.
